Volt and the PRG will represent the pro-European alternative in the North
> Political agreement between the PRG-59 and Volt Hauts-de-France
> Support for the respective candidates in 5 constituencies (4th, 9th Volt and 6th, 17th, 20th PRG)
> The progressive and pro-European choice to balance ecology, economy and social issues is Volt and the PRG
Lille, 12th of May, 2022
The pan-European Volt party, which exists in 30 countries across Europe, is running for the first time in the French legislative elections. Based in Lille since 2019, the Volt Lille team is putting forward two candidates, Claire Desbois in the 4th and Eric Galéra in the 9th constituency in order to expand its reach across the Metropolis. Volt brings together progressive social democratic policies, a pragmatic approach to ecology and an economy that attempts to balance capital, people and the planet.
Volt defends European co-construction as a lever to respond to our common challenges and thus shares many points with the PRG. The two parties have therefore decided to work together in the Nord department for the 2022 legislative elections in order to support their respective candidates and to offer voters a progressive and European alternative that would be greatly lacking on election days.
Sven Franck, Co-president of Volt France : "We are very happy about this cooperation. The upcoming elections are an opportunity for political renewal and to give life to new parties and ideas. This is essential if we are to avoid a democracy in which fewer and fewer voters can register. With the PRG, we provide an answer to voters who believe that this renewal is necessary and who believe that Europe is a lever for France to achieve many of its goals in cooperation with our partners across the continent.”
Jérôme Matuszewski, Président of the PRG59: “The PRG, heir to the oldest party in France, intends through this agreement to show that there is a strong alternative in the current political landscape. A responsible Left, "with its feet on the ground and its heart in the stars" as Michel Crépeau used to say, a Left that has a sense of responsibility. With Volt, in our department, which borders the EU, we are putting forward proposals for universalism and openness that are not included in the current political offer.”
