Lompret - Pérenchies - Verlinghem - Quesnoy-sur-Deûle - Deûlement - Warneton - Frelinghien - Houplines - Armentières - Erquinghem-Lys - Bois Grenier - La Chapelle d'Armentières - Prémesques
Go west, round 2
During the 5th stage we wanted to try visiting the remaining communes in the nord-west of the MEL, including Armentières, which we failed to do earlier due to heavy rain. To respect the rules of Ensemble en Selle, we had to cut our stage into two routes (the maxium route length possible to submit being 25km).
Heading back through Lille and Lambersart, our first stop was Lompret.
We followed the D78 until Pérenchies.
A quick photo of the Verlinghem city limit sign later, we turned onto the D654 towards Quesnoy-sur-Deûle.
A lot of space for bikers along the D57 and D36, if you are not afraid of passing trucks.
Crossing the Deûle, we were again missing signs for bikers indicating how to access the cycle lanes along the river.
We eventually arrived in Quesnoy-sur-Deûle and also found a was to access the river and bicycle route.
A pleasent ride in fact towards Deûlement.
Passing Deûlement city limits.
And passing our last stop, Warneton before turning South.
We headed back to the canal and followed it until Frelinghien.
From where we continued on the D945 until Houplines.
We continued back to the canal and followed it until Armentières and Erquinghem-Lys. The traintrack separates the two communes, so one stop
for two city limit sign photos.
Heading back to Lille we were somewhat reconciled for our earlier trip by the good weather and landscape.
Bois-Grenier had the prettiest city limit sign so far.
We headed along the D222 on theAvenue Industrielle to reach La Chapelle-d'Armentières.
And continued to our last stop before arriving in Lomme and Lille, which was Prémesques.
